University of Kisubi at the 15th Higher Education Exhibition-Day two

The University of Kisubi (UniK) actively participated in the 15th Higher Education Exhibition organized by the National Council for Higher Education. Day 2 of the exhibition was eventful and marked by distinguished visits, engaging interactions, and inspiring showcases of innovative solutions in line with the theme: Strategies, Challenges, and Best Practices for Artificial Intelligence Integration in Higher Education in Uganda.

One of the key highlights of the day was the visit by the Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda. Accompanied by other recognizable government officials, the Deputy Speaker toured the UniK exhibition stand and was particularly impressed by the Eco Bike innovation. He expressed keen interest in the university’s efforts towards eco-friendly technology and promised to schedule a special visit to the university to explore the innovation further.

Earlier in the day, a group of judges conducted an inspection of the innovations showcased by the university. Their evaluation focused on innovation, sustainability, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in addressing contemporary challenges. The judges engaged the innovators in discussions about their projects, acknowledging the potential impact of UniK’s contributions to technological advancement in Uganda.

The UniK exhibition booth attracted visits from several secondary schools, including:

  • Western collage

Students and teachers from these institutions showed great enthusiasm in learning about AI-driven solutions and other technological innovations demonstrated by UniK. Their engagement underscored the growing interest in integrating AI and sustainable technology in education and everyday life.

  • Seed Dryer – A technology-driven approach to enhance agricultural productivity.
  • Smart AI Traffic Management System – A computer vision-based traffic solution.
  • AI Career Guidance Application – A tool assisting students in career decision-making.
