The National Council for Higher Education verification team recently conducted an institutional assessment visit to University of Kisubi as part of the accreditation process for three proposed academic programmes aimed at strengthening the University’s contribution to science education and healthcare training.
The programmes under assessment were:
- Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology (Direct Entry)
- Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology (Extension Programme)
- Bachelor of Science Education (Biology, Chemistry and Agriculture)
The verification exercise forms an important stage in the accreditation process, during which the NCHE team evaluates the University’s readiness and capacity to deliver the proposed programmes in line with national higher education standards and quality assurance requirements.
The team assessed the institution’s governance and leadership structures, academic and professional staffing, and the adequacy of physical infrastructure such as lecture rooms, laboratories, and office space. They also examined library and ICT resources to ensure the availability of relevant learning materials, digital access, and technological support necessary for effective teaching and learning. In addition, the verification team reviewed the University’s internal quality assurance systems, institutional policies, and regulatory compliance mechanisms. Attention was also given to essential utilities and accessibility provisions, the institution’s financial sustainability to support programme implementation, existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic partnerships for practical training, as well as the admissible student numbers to ensure that projected enrolment aligns with available resources and maintains quality academic delivery.
