The University of Kisubi is seeking to employ competent people to fill the following vacant
positions. The University is private and is provisionally licensed by the National Council for
Higher Education. The owners of the University are the Registered Trustees of the Uganda
Brothers of Christian Instruction, who, together with Management, staff and students, cherish
the mission of providing Holistic Education through Teaching, Innovation, and Research for
social transformation, grounded in the Catholic Ethos.

Accountant – (1) Position
The primary responsibility of the Accountant shall be to prepare and examine financial records,
and to ensure that they are accurate, consistent with the University’s accounting policies and
regulations as well as compliant with the best national and international best practices as per
the established legal and regulatory frameworks. He/she shall make sure that records are
prepared in time and that the University’s financial obligations are adhered to promptly.
Working in conjunction with the auditors, the Accountant shall perform overviews of the
financial operations of the University in order to ensure that it runs efficiently. He/she shall
also help and advise the University to create plans of action for its improved financial well-
being.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Continuous checking of the bookkeeping and accounts posting to the General Ledger.
  2. Preparing the university financial reports.
  3. Guiding the different units of the University in the preparation of their respective annual
    budgets
  4. Providing Accounting Information for Auditing purposes.
  5. Maintaining books of accounts, processing payments and keeping up-to-date records of
    account.
  6. Examines the bank reconciliation statements.
  7. Verifying that all accounting reports are adequately supported by relevant documentation.
  8. Ascertaining that all accountability documents are adequately secured and stored safely.
  9. Ensuring that proper internal controls are in place.
  10. Making sure that the University Asset Register is updated and maintained.
  11. Ensuring that statements and records comply with established laws and regulations
  12. Making recommendations towards the realisation of best practice in the University’s
    financial management as well as safeguarding its financial health
  13. Suggesting ways to reduce costs, enhance revenues
  14. Participate in the annual stock-taking
  15. Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

  1. Master’s Degree in the relevant field and a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business
    Administration/Management or an equivalent degree from an institution of higher learning
    recognized by NCHE.
  2. At least level two of professional qualification such as ACCAor CPA,
  3. At least three (3) years working experience as an Accountant in a reputable organisation,
    preferably in an institution of higher learning
  4. Demonstrate understanding of the legal and regulatory framework regarding taxes and
    other financial obligations particularly with regard to educational institutions of higher
    learning
  5. Familiarity with best practices in accounting and setting precedents for financial health and
    stability in not-for-profit organisations, particularly in institutions of higher learning
  6. Proven experience in using automated accounting systems and diverse accounting packages
  7. Excellent knowledge of Accounting Software packages
  8. Outstanding organisational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  9. Good organisational, negotiation and engagement skills

Assistant Accountant- (1) Position
The Assistant Accountant shall be responsible for maintaining proper invoicing and credit
records of the students, as well as for responding to all their queries regarding their financial
obligations and standing in the University. He/she will also be the official agent with the
University’s bankers as well as the immediate point of reference for the University’s
correspondence relating to the finances owed by and to the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performing clerical works in the Finance department as might be assigned from time to
    time
  2. Filing accounts records and ensuring that they can be retrieved and accessible to authorized
    persons whenever needed.
  3. Maintaining of student’s ledgers and responding to their queries.
  4. Ensuring that in-coming and out-going correspondences are handled expeditiously.
  5. Preparing schedules for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  6. Monitoring advances and accountabilities in compliance with regulations
  7. Maintaining sound accounting system, filing and accountability attached to payment
    vouchers.
  8. Attending to students’ queries and providing them with statements of their fees.
  9. Assuring timely collection of monies due to the University.
  10. Monitoring and reporting on deviations from the University’s credit policy and regulations.
  11. Assuring timely and accurate invoicing for students and for any other transactions in
    his/her competence.
  12. Conducting credit checks on all students accounts as well as establishing and managing
    credit limits
  13. Making recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures.
  14. Weekly reporting of invoicing totals/aging totals/cash receipts/invoice adjustments
  15. Generating accounting statements and reports for the Accountant.
  16. Researching cash receipts, coding and posting of receipts.
  17. Preparing daily bank and cash deposits.
  18. Developing both automated and hard copies of financial reports using Spread sheets or any
    other format.
  19. Organizing and maintaining up-to-date financial records.
  20. Participate in the annual stock-taking
  21. Providing monthly financial and management reports.
  22. Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

  1. A Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration/Management or an
    equivalent relevant degree from an Institution recognised by NCHE.
  2. At least level two professional qualification as a certified public accountant.
  3. At least two (2) years’ working experience in a similar or related position in a reputable
    organisation, preferably in an institution of higher learning.
  4. Proven experience in using automated accounting systems and diverse accounting packages
  5. Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Spread sheet and PowerPoint.
  6. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

Marketing Officer – (1) Position
We are looking for a passionate Marketing Officer to plan and oversee the organization’s
marketing activities and campaigns. You will be the one to ensure that all marketing operations
are successful in meeting the goals set by Management.
A successful Marketing officer must have great enthusiasm for all things marketing and great
knowledge of the relevant techniques and principles. The ideal candidate will also be an
excellent communicator and will have experience in managing different marketing ventures.
The goal is to ensure that the marketing efforts of the University add the highest value to its
business.

Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the planning and implementation, in consultation with the head of marketing,
    the University’s advertising and marketing strategies and campaigns to reach the
    University’s many cohorts, from school leavers to postgraduate, and international
    audiences.
  2. Support the head of marketing in overseeing the department’s operations.
  3. Organize and attend marketing activities or events to raise brand awareness.
  4. Keep abreast of new marketing and advertising techniques to deliver innovative work.
  5. Plan and implement the University’s advertising and marketing strategies and campaigns
    across offline, digital and social media platforms, including drafting marketing campaign
    messages and evaluation of outputs from the campaigns.
  6. Liaise with the University’s relevant staff across the University’s units and research centres
    to assist with all advertising/marketing and promotional needs.
  7. Liaise with stakeholders and vendors to promote the success of activities and enhance the
    University’s presence
  8. See all ventures through to completion and evaluate their success using various metrics.
  9. Prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution.
  10. Conduct market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth.

  11. Collaborate with Managers in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.
  12. Provide periodic updates and monthly, quarterly reports to Management on the progress of
    activities carried out and recommending future action.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

  1. BSc/BA in marketing, business administration, Journalism, Mass Communication or
    relevant discipline from an institution recognised by the NCHE.
  2. Demonstrable experience in Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Social Media is desirable.
  3. Proven experience as marketing officer or similar role
  4. Solid knowledge of marketing techniques and principles.
  5. Good understanding of market research techniques, statistical and data analysis methods
  6. Excellent knowledge of MS Office and marketing software (e.g. CRM)
  7. Experience of filming videos and use of editing software.
  8. Thorough understanding of social media and web analytics
