University of Kisubi Strengthens Clinical Training Through Nurse Mentorship Workshop at Kisubi Hospital

The University of Kisubi, through its School of Nursing and Midwifery, conducted a one-day workshop at Kisubi Hospital aimed at strengthening clinical mentorship for student nurses. The training brought together 20 nurses and midwives who were equipped with essential skills in mentorship, support supervision, and effective logbook signing.

The workshop was facilitated by the School of Nursing and Midwifery and led by the Principal, Mrs. Rebecca Namubiru. It provided a platform for participants to enhance their capacity to guide, supervise, and assess student nurses during their clinical placements.

In his remarks, Br Dr. Pius Ochwo the Academic Registrar of University of Kisubi expressed deep appreciation to Kisubi Hospital for its continued partnership in providing a practical learning environment for students. The hospital’s role in bridging classroom knowledge with real-life patient care was recognized as vital in shaping competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Special tribute was paid to the nurse mentors for their dedication and commitment. Their role goes beyond clinical supervision to nurturing professionalism, discipline, empathy, and ethical practice among students.

The workshop also encouraged open discussion, experience sharing, and reflection on best practices, further strengthening collaboration between the University and the hospital. The University reaffirmed its commitment to supporting mentors to ensure high-quality clinical training.

The session concluded with gratitude to the hospital administration and all participating mentors for their invaluable contribution to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
