Members of the Innovation Hub from University of Kisubi, led by Sr. Dr. Celestine Lindirio, undertook a study visit to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The visit aimed to inspire and familiarize participants with JICA’s work as one of Uganda’s leading infrastructure development partners, while fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
The team was received by JICA’s leadership, led by Yoichi Inoue, who delivered an insightful presentation tracing Japan’s post–World War II development journey and highlighting the transformative investments that rebuilt and modernized the country’s infrastructure.
Participants were also briefed on major JICA-supported projects in Uganda, including the Nile Bridge, the Queens Way Interchange, and progress updates on the Karuma Bridge, which is expected to be completed in the coming months.
During an interactive Q&A session, students explored opportunities for development assistance through collaboration, innovation growth support, internship placements, and innovation acceleration programmes facilitated by JICA.
The study visit concluded with a guided tour of the Kampala Flyover Project, providing participants with firsthand exposure to large-scale urban infrastructure development in Uganda.
