DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES AND RESEARCH
Fr. Dr. Aloysius Lwanga Bukenya
Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Kisubi.
Before assuming the office of Dean, School of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Kisubi, Uganda, Dr. Bukenya was Director of the Apostles of Jesus Seminary Moroto (2020-2021). Before that he was Superior in Kenya for the Apostles of Jesus priests and brothers (2014- 2019).
He had served as Rector of the Apostles of Jesus Theologicum in Nairobi, Kenya, where, in 2013, he introduced celebrations of African cultural diversities among students preparing to be Catholic priests and missionaries. He had been Dean Faculty of Education of the University of Kisubi in its initial stages as a constituent college of the Uganda Martyrs University (2007-2010).
Fr. Dr. Bukenya is an educational sociologist who is passionate about qualitative methodologies, he is keen about ethnographic studies, and biographies, he organized an international conference in Nairobi, 2012, for the co-founders of the the Religious Missionary Institute of the Apostles of Jesus. He completed his doctoral studies in 2003, at the University of Warwick in the UK. In 2007, he published ‘Pastoral Care in Ugandan Schools, a Sociological Perspective. His study discusses need for pastoral care strategies in Ugandan schools to manage the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on school teenagers.
He is currently undertaking a study on the readmission of teen mothers and pregnant girls in the Ugandan mainstream education, as a human rights issue.
